NEOLITERAL play at Perdu Theatre, Amsterdam May 2022.

Next week, we are presenting two new performances in Amsterdam. Not on the radio this time, but in the Perdu theater. So please join us on 3 or 5 May for ‘Neo Literal‘ by Steven Warwick and ‘Suns Hollow’ by Ivan Cheng with Magdalena Mitterhofer.

Both performances take place on both days and tickets are available at perdu.nl, for 8 or 12 Euro.

Steven Warwick’s Neo Literal is an epic poem, written in autumn last year and set in the near future with bureaucrats sat around a table in a cabinet war room. Join Generals Intellect, Election, Abstraction, Enquiry and Anxiety, in a heated debate, attempting conflict resolution. An absurdist Kraussian satire pointing towards contemporary discourse, or rather, a lack of it, in which plurality is reduced to limiting binaries, all space is monetized and politicized and Trojan horses hijack attempts at progress.

This evening is part of ‘Speaker, Broker, Stringer’, our series that critically engages with the notion of Werktreue, fidelity to an original text, and proposes distorted readings in opposition to the fetishization of authenticity. The series is supported by Mondriaan Fonds and Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst.
